Permafrost Depletion Illustrations
Illustrations for the Asia Society depicting the effects of the melting permafrost in the Himalayan Mountains. These illustrations were used in a video accompanying the exhibition “Rivers of Ice: Vanishing Glaciers of the Greater Himalaya.”
“Mountaineer and photographer David Breashears retraced the steps of renowned mountain photographers of the past century to recapture images of these mountains and their glaciers from exactly the same vantage points. The comparison starkly reveals the catastrophic loss of ice during the intervening years.”
